Yobo targets top four

Joseph Yobo is convinced Everton can force their way into the top four with a bit more financial muscle.

Yobo was part of the side defeated by Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley in May, after which manager David Moyes pleaded for the funds that would allow him to strengthen his squad during the early weeks of the summer.

Moyes is still to make a move, but providing he gets the right backing from chairman Bill Kenwright, Yobo is convinced Everton can smash the barrier that separates the top four from the rest.

bright future

Yobo said: "With a better financial backing, we can be in the top four before long.

"We have a very bright future ahead. We have finished these past two seasons within the top six and we are still growing as a team. I believe that in the very near future we will break into the top four in England."

Yobo made 27 Barclays Premier League appearances for the Merseysiders in 2008/09, scoring once. He has made 168 league starts for Everton since joining from Marseille for £3.5m in May 2003.

The 28-year-old centre-back is also a key figure for Nigeria, winning 68 caps.
